J. Scott Lucas has a long, distinguished record of professional accomplishment and academic achievement. Mr. Lucas is known by his many facets. He has been an entrepreneur for nearly three decades specializing in complex financial problem solving and negotiation. He is a licensed attorney and holds an M.B.A. He is a trained, court certified mediator. He was a pioneer of sorts in retail development. He is known as a leader among his college alumni, his church and his local community. Finally, he is also known, proudly, as a husband and a father to two sons.

Education: He attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he received his undergraduate degree from the College of Business majoring in marketing. After graduation, Mr. Lucas furthered his education at the University of Texas obtaining a Masters of Business Administration. Subsequently, he returned to UT Knoxville where he earned a law degree and was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1984. Mr. Lucas was born in Kingsport, Tennessee in April of 1957. He attended Sullivan Central High School where he excelled in football and track and garnered many academic and leadership achievements.

Achievements: As an undergraduate Mr. Lucas was very active in student affairs the more notable included serving as Vice President of the student body and President of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Business. For his extra curricular efforts and academic achievements, he received many awards and recognitions by the University.  Those which deserve special mention include induction into the Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa societies, receiving a Chancellor’s Citation for Extraordinary Service and the prestigious Torchbearer’s Award given to the most outstanding graduates of each academic class. In 1999 Mr. Lucas organized the establishment of The Torchbearer’s Scholarship which rewards UT students who have demonstrated outstanding service to the student body and solid academic achievement during their freshman and sophomore years. His service to the University continues to this day serving on the UTAA Legislative Relations Task Force.

Personal: Mr. Lucas was married to Paula Wilkerson in October of 1984. They are members of the Belle Meade United Methodist Church and reside in Nashville. They have two sons. The oldest, Jonathan, is a student at University of Tennessee while his brother Austin who attends Battleground Academy a high school in Franklin, Tennessee.
